This year’s South East Spring Run marks the 82nd Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and begins with a visit to the Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum at RAF Manston – (www.spitfiremuseum.org.uk).
After visiting the Museum and the RAF Manston History Museum next door the cars will head off on a 31 mile scenic road run to finish at the National
Memorial to the Few at Capel-le-Ferne – (www.battleofbritainmemorial.org.)
On the way the route passes the Kent Battle of Britain Museum at Hawkinge which is well worth a visit (extra charge of £10 per adult at door)
Lunch can be taken at the Lydden Bell Public House in Lydden by pre-booking at extra cost using the application form. Of course you can arrange your own lunch stop if you wish or picnic on the cliffs at Capel Le Ferne.
Exclusive MG parking has been arranged at the National Memorial to the Few next to the central statue of a lone pilot (weather permitting), with unrivalled views across the White Cliffs. The Memorial is a peaceful place
ideal for those who wish to show their respect to the heroes of the Battle of Britain named on the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall. In addition, members can view the Spitfire, Hurricane and Stuka exhibits, visit The Wing visitor centre, participate in the interactive scramble experience (additional cost), walk along the cliffs, enjoy a picnic and visit the café and viewing gallery.
We very much hope that you will all join us for this great occasion.
