One of the highlights at Brooklands Museum was the Cherished Vehicle Insurance Pride of Ownership competition held on Sunday 19th May.
Pride of Ownership and Concours competitions have been essential features on the Brooklands scene for many years and are annually seen as an element at the Museum’s own contemporary Double Twelve competition. Condition competitions were also present at the track when it was operational amongst the motor clubs that used the circuit.
The competition at this year’s show was exclusive to MGs of all eras and to make it fairer it will be judged in three categories plus an overall car of the show:-
- Pre 1955 – all pre war MGs, T Types, Y Types etc
- Post 1955 – All mid period MGs – MGAs, MGBS, MGCs, Midgets, V8’s, 1300s, Magnettes etc up to 1980
- Post Abingdon (1981 – 2010) All those MGs built after the Abingdon closure – Metros, Maestros, Montegos, RV8, MGF/TF (including SAIC TFs), Zed cars and Post Longbridge – (2011 – present) All those MGs built by SAIC (except TFs which come in the above category) MG3, MG4, MG5, MG6, GS/ZS/HS
The competition was judged by the MGCC Vice-President Bill Silcock and John & Johnathan Davies from the MGCCSE.
The overall car of the show was chosen independently by John Mayhead, author of the book on Goilide Gardner and a concours judge himself.
